Light travels through fiber optic cables at a speed of around 200,000 km per second – enough to circle the Earth five times in one second.
Fiber optics - your turbo for the Internet
With fiber optics, you get the fastest and most stable Internet connection. The data is transmitted via light signals in fiber optic cables - this enables speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s and extremely low latency. Expansion is progressing steadily in Switzerland: by 2030, around 80% of all households will be connected to the fiber optic network.
DSL - strongly connected, available everywhere
No fiber optic connection? No problem. With DSL you use the existing telephone line - a proven technology with around 98% coverage in Switzerland. Teleboy uses the lines of Swisscom, the country's largest network operator. This means you can stay online even where fiber optics are still being expanded. Depending on the location, DSL speeds of up to 500 Mbit/s are possible - more than enough for streaming, video calls and everyday digital life.
How the Internet comes to your home
Your connection is set up differently depending on the location. Sometimes the fiber optic cable runs directly to your home, sometimes only to the house or street. The closer the fiber optic cable is to you, the higher the possible speed. Advantage: Thanks to modern hybrid solutions, you have less signal loss and benefit from stable, high speeds.
Fiber to the Home (FTTH)
The fiber optic cable is laid directly to your apartment or house - for maximum speed and stability.
Fibre to the Building (FTTB)
The fiber optic cable is routed into the building (e.g. into the basement or utility room). From there, it continues into the apartment via copper cable.
Fiber to the Street (FTTS)
The fiber optic cable extends to the distribution box on the street, from where the last section is copper cable to the building.
Fibre to the Curb (FTTC)
The fiber optic cable is laid up to a distribution box at the roadside, which supplies several houses. The connection to the house is made via copper cables.
Which Internet is right for you?
Individuals
For everyone who loves surfing, streaming and video calls. Recommended: 100 Mbit/s - fast, stable, uncomplicated.
Couples & Families
More people, more devices, more streaming. Recommended: 500 Mbit/s - enough power for everyone at the same time.
Power users & large households
Don't want to compromise? With 1 or 10 Gbit/s, you're ready for anything - from 4K streaming and cloud gaming to large data volumes.
