Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep star in David Frankel's comedy. Andy Sachs is an aspiring journalist from Ohio who puts her disparaging opinions about the fashion industry to one side when she lands a job as junior personal assistant to Miranda Priestly, the editor of the successful New York magazine Runway. Andy doesn't have an auspicious start to her new career, and even has to borrow stylish clothes in order to fit in with her new colleagues. She also soon discovers that Priestly is an egomaniac in immaculate clothing, whose whims come before the personal lives of Andy and her partner Nate. But, slowly, a mutual respect grows between the two women.
