999: What's Your Emergency?
'I just rang a minute ago, my mate's in a bad way as well. He might have been stabbed as well.' In the early hours of Sunday morning a call handler in the South Western Ambulance Service 999 control room receives a report that two people have been stabbed in the street by a stranger. Despite the best attempts of paramedics and the crew of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, the injuries sustained by one of the victims prove fatal. But as Wiltshire Police launch a full-scale murder investigation to find the perpetrator, all is not as it may first have seemed in a case that raises difficult questions about why people carry knives, and how they should be punished for doing so.
