Professionelle Wrestler sind als Entertainer in einer Klasse f\u00fcr sich. Das h\u00e4lt aber einige nicht davon ab, Karrieren als Schauspieler und sogar Politiker anzustreben zu wollen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vom Wrestler zum erfolgreichen Filmstar: Dwayne \u00abThe Rock\u00bb Johnson<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dwayne Johnsons Filme wie \u00abJumanji: Willkommen im Dschungel\u00bb oder \u00abFast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw\u00bb haben weltweit \u00fcber 10 Milliarden Franken an den Kinokassen eingespielt und machen ihn zu einem der erfolgreichsten Filmstars in Hollywood. Nur noch schwach ist die Erinnerung an seine Anf\u00e4nge als \u00abThe Rock\u00bb, sein launenhaftes Wrestler-Alter Ego, das mit hochgezogener Augenbraue und dem \u00abPeople\u2019s Ellbow\u00bb, dem Ellbogen des Volkes, seine Gegner im Ring triezte. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eigentlich wollte Johnson ja Profi in der American Football Liga werden, aber schon zwei Monate nachdem er f\u00fcr die kanadischen Calgary Stampeders zu spielen anfing, wurde er gefeuert. Also stieg er ins Familiengesch\u00e4ft ein, denn sein Vater und Grossvater waren schon Wrestler und seine Grossmutter war eine der ber\u00fcchtigtsten Wrestling-Veranstalter der USA. Johnson ist vielleicht der erfolgreichste, aber bei weitem nicht der einzige Wrestler, der es in Hollywood geschafft hat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kein Einzelph\u00e4nomen: Wrestling-Stars in Hollywood und in der Politik<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Einer, der schon mit Dwaynes Vater Rocky Johnson im Ring stand, war der franz\u00f6sisch-bulgarische Wrestler Andr\u00e9 Ren\u00e9 Roussimoff, besser bekannt als Andr\u00e9 The Giant. Zun\u00e4chst machte er sich mit Gastauftritten in TV-Serien wie \u00abDer sechs Millionen Dollar Mann\u00bb als liebenswerter Riese einen Namen, bevor er 1987 als Fezzik in \u00abDie Braut des Prinzen\u00bb besetzt wurde und damit internationalen Ruhm erlangte. Der Glanz Hollywoods war ihm jedoch egal. Andr\u00e9 sagte in Interviews, dass das beste an der Filmarbeit sei, dass ihn niemand anstarre, als w\u00e4re er eine Zirkusattraktion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Auch die Frauen im Wrestling-Sport lieb\u00e4ugeln mit Hollywood. W\u00e4hrend sich Stacy \u00abMiss Hancock\u00bb Keibler vor allem durch Gastauftritte in TV-Serien wie \u00abPsych\u00bb, \u00abHow I Met Your Mother\u00bb und der amerikanischen Version von \u00abLet\u00b4s Dance\u00bb einen Namen machte, war die Wrestlerin Chyna sowohl im als auch ausserhalb des Rings erfolgreich. Sie hielt als einzige Frau den Titel der WWF International Championship und landete in den 90er-Jahren als Joanie Laurer Rollen in TV-Serien wie \u00abSabrina \u2013 total verhext\u00bb oder \u00abHinterm Mond gleich links\u00bb. Ihre Memoiren \u00abIf They Only Knew\u00bb schafften es sogar auf die Bestseller-Liste der \u00abNew York Times\u00bb. Aber, eine alte Verletzung liess Chyna tablettens\u00fcchtig werden und sie starb 2016 an einer Kombination von Alkohol und Medikamenten. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heute sind vor allem MME K\u00e4mpferinnen wie Ronda Rousey (\u00abThe Expendables 3\u00bb, \u00ab3 Engel f\u00fcr Charlie\u00bb) oder Gina Carano, die in der Star-Wars Serie \u00abThe Mandalorian\u00bb eine Hauptrolle landen konnte, erfolgreich. Als sich seine Wrestling-Karriere dem Ende zuneigte, trat Jesse \u00abThe Body\u00bb Ventura in den 90er-Jahren eine politische Karriere an. Zun\u00e4chst bewarb er sich f\u00fcr das Amt des B\u00fcrgermeisters von Brooklyn Park in Minnesota, das er bis 1995 inne hatte und 1998 kandidierte er als Gouverneur von Minnesota. Als Repr\u00e4sentant der dubiosen Reformpartei stach er sowohl den demokratischen als auch den republikanischen Kandidaten aus. Im April 2020 trat Ventura Minnesotas Gr\u00fcner Partei bei und lieb\u00e4ugelte mit einer Pr\u00e4sidentschaftskandidatur, die sich dann aber nicht materialisierte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heute treten vor allem John Cena und Dave Bautista in The Rocks Fussstapfen. Cenas Karriere ist mit Action-Filmen wie \u00abThe Suicide Squad\u00bb oder \u00abFast & Furious 9\u00bb gepflastert. Es ist aber sein Humor, den der Wrestler in Filmen wie Amy Schumers \u00abDating Queen\u00bb oder als Helikopter-Vater in \u00abDer Sex Pakt\u00bb beweist, der ihn so erfolgreich macht. Bautista begann seine Karriere als B\u00f6sewicht in der TV-Serie \u00abSmallville\u00bb und ist seither sowohl in renommierten Dramen wie \u00abDune\u00bb, \u00abSpectre\u00bb oder \u00abBlade Runner 2049\u00bb als auch Action-Filmen wie \u00abGuardians of the Galaxy\u00bb und Kom\u00f6dien wie \u00abStuber\u00bb zu sehen. Zum Schluss bleibt nat\u00fcrlich die Frage, ob der einzige Schweizer im amerikanischen Wrestling-Zirkus eine Hollywood-Karriere ins Auge gefasst hat. Der Luzerner Claudio Castagnoli ist in der WWE als \u00abCesaro\u00bb, \u00abSwiss Superman\u00bb oder \u00abThe King of Swing\u00bb bekannt, was auf seine gute Technik als Ringer hinweist.
