Internet speed

How fast is the Internet at your address? How many Mbit/s do you need to watch TV? Here you will find everything you need to know about Internet speeds.

Our offer

We offer internet speeds from 25 Mbit/s to 1 Gbit/s - for the crazy ones even an "Unreal" offer with up to 10 Gbit/s. With the "Speed" offer you benefit from the maximum speed at your home (up to 1 Gbit). This is because the speed can vary greatly and is influenced by various factors - e.g. distance to the distributor, age or quality of the house wiring etc. Do the availability check now and find out what speeds are available at your address.

Information: Via DSL you can surf at speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s, via fibre optics up to 1 Gbit/s. For our offers we use the copper and fibre optic lines of Swisscom.

How fast should my Internet be?

The download and upload speed requirements can be quite different. If you live in a 1 to 2-person household and surf the Internet, write e-mails, or occasionally look at Teleboy and Netflix in HD, 20 to 50 Mbit will suffice. As soon as several people use the line at the same time for these activities, we recommend between 50 and 100 Mbit - the more people, the higher the speed. For more demanding applications such as smooth UHD streaming, downloading large files or online gaming, we recommend 100 Mbit to 1 Gbit - again, the more people, the faster the speed should be. If you have to bridge large distances in your apartment or house via WLAN, we recommend that you include a buffer. Depending on the environment, some Mbit may be lost on the way. If you not only download a lot of data, but also upload a lot (e.g. into the cloud on Dropbox), we also recommend a high upload speed.

*The displayed upload speed is possible with the symmetric connection. If the speed is not symmetrical, it will differ from the download speed (see below).

Tip: With the help of the speed comparison you can see how much time is needed for certain processes, depending on the bandwidth. You will now be able to better weigh which bandwidth corresponds to your usage behavior. The number of users in your household also plays an important role, because the more activity takes place at the same time, the lower the bandwidth you have to get along with.

Download and upload speed

Download Download speed refers to the connection speed required to download data. This includes typical applications such as streaming, document downloads and regular web browsing. With a DSL connection the download speed is faster than the upload speed.

Upload The upload speed is used to "send" data. For example, when you upload videos to YouTube or save your movies, photos, and documents to Dropbox, Google Drive, or other cloud services.
